Ajax manager Erik ten Hag believes he is ready to take on a new challenge.

The Dutchman has impressed since taking charge of Ajax in December 2017. In almost four years, he has led the club to four trophies, including consecutive Eredivisie titles, and won 139 of his 188 games (D24 L25).

Ten Hag, who also famously guided Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19, is reportedly a frontrunner to become the next permanent Manchester United manager alongside PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino.

Now, in an interview with de Volkskrant, the 51-year-old has revealed he feels ready to coach abroad.

“I believe I’m ready,” he told the Dutch outlet. “I would gladly accept that challenge.

“But it’s not that I’m hunting for it. If this step doesn’t arrive, I won’t say my career has failed. But I believe I have enough skills to accept the challenge.”

Ten Hag is under contract at Ajax until the summer of 2023.

Ralf Rangnick, meanwhile, will coach United on an interim basis until the end of the season. The German makes his debut on Sunday at home to Crystal Palace. For details of the Premier League match, check out the betting preview here.
