Rio Ferdinand sees no reason why Rice would prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been interested in a move for Declan Rice for the past few months. Back in September, several English sources confirmed Rice as the Red Devils’ top priority to bolster their midfield.

Rice has continued to impress at Wes Ham since then, helping the Hammers claim the league’s third place. With his incredible versatility in midfield, the 22-year-old has secured his place among Premier League’s top midfielders.

Man United, however, has written an opposite narrative during this time. The Red Devils are struggling for form, while the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains unclear.

Ahead of the transfer window, Man United fans are eager to hear news about the club’s potential move for Rice. However, club legend Rio Ferdinand is not optimistic about their chances of signing the English star.

“He’s arguably been the best midfielder in the country. He has dominated games, he’s played with maturity,” Ferdinand told his YouTube channel, FIVE

“The Euros, something’s clicked with him differently. His game management, the way he can change the pace of the game at times.

“When I was at West Ham I always felt I could go to the top and there were more levels in me, and I think Declan probably feels the same.

“But why’s he going to want to leave West Ham right now? They’re third in the league.”

Rice is enjoying top form at West Ham while attracting interest from a host of top clubs.

The player’s contract runs until 2024, with West Ham reportedly demanding more than £100million from the suitors.
