Manchester City defeated Leicester City with a 6-3 result in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Citizens secured their ninth consecutive league victory as they defeated Leicester in a crazy game.
Boxing Day stuff!
Manchester City have been relentless in their attacking performances recently. Before coming into the match against Leicester, they had 11 goals in their last two league games.
It did not take Man City too long to bombard Leicester with their crushing attacks. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan, and Raheem Sterling made it 4-0 for the Citizens before half-time.
However, the Foxes put great efforts into mounting a comeback as soon as the second half started. James Maddison scored Leicester’s first goal of the night only ten minutes into the second period. Two more goals from Ademola Lookman and Kalechi Iheanecho revived Leicester’s hopes to complete the impossible job.
The Citizens were 4-3 ahead and under pressure when Aymeric Laporte restored his side’s two-goal lead in the 69th minute. Following a precise corner from Riyad Mahrez, the defender fired a header past Kasper Schmeichel to the top-right corner.
Leicester kept pushing to get back into the game. However, Raheem Sterling put the result to bed by completing his brace in the 87th minute.
Manchester City remain on top of the table with 47 points from their 19 games. The Citizens will play against Brentford in their next league game on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Leicester slipped to tenth place on the table as they suffered their seventh defeat of the campaign. Next up for the foxes is a game against Liverpool on Tuesday.
