Luke Shaw has called for big improvements to be be made at Manchester United following their embarrassing Premier League defeat.

Tottenham had a walk in the park when they took to Old Trafford on Sunday as they dismantled Manchester United 6-1.

Bruno Fernandes put his side on the front foot just two minutes in, and that was the only highlight of the evening for the Red Devils as the match quickly and heavily shifted into their opponents’ favor.

Anthony Martial’s sending off just before the hour-mark amplified the troubles for the home side, who had already conceded four goals by then.

The heavy loss marked one of the worst defeats for Man United in their 142-year-long history, and also their biggest at home since 2011.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been substandard since the start of this Premier League season, suffering a defeat on the opening matchday before securing a rather unconvincing narrow in the next league outing.

“It was a lack of concentration and then a mistake, another mistake, another mistake. We switched off. It really hurts,” Luka Shaw told Sky Sports after the full-time whistle vs Spurs, via Goal.

“Manchester United shouldn’t lose in this manner. It really hurts, it’s embarrassing and we’ve let a lot of people down. We’ve let ourselves down and the staff down.

“We need to look in the mirror, we are nowhere near it at the moment. Maybe it’s lucky that we’ve got a break now.”
