Romelu Lukaku’s sublime form at Inter Milan can be attributed to the support he has received at the club, according to his representative.

After failing to manage the high expectations at Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku, having joined them on an €80 million transfer just two years before, quit the club in 2019.

A huge chunk of the Belgium international’s criticisms included his indecisiveness, inconsistency, and the inability to step up in big matches.

However, in what has been a complete turnaround of events, those are exactly the qualities that he is known for in Italy.

The 27-year old hit 34 goals during his debut season at Inter Milan. He found the net against the likes of Napoli and AC Milan in Serie A, FC Barcelona in the Champions League, and also in the Europa League final against Sevilla.

A revived Lukaku has reestablished his status as one of Europe’s most lethal marksman, and his agent suggests this has only been possible after he received the warmth and approval of the supporters – something that was lacking at Man United.

“His transfer to Italy was the right decision and the best choice for him,” said Federico Pastorello, speaking to Sky Sports. “Inter are a great family and the fans are completely crazy about him.

“Romelu is a modern player and a sensitive person. He needs love, when he feels everyone’s affection he really becomes the best the market can offer, even if Inter obviously do not intend to sell him.

“In terms of quality, attitude, and mentality, he is currently the best striker in the world.”
