An easy home win was enough for United to edge closer toward their first title under Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 in their Carabao Cup semi-final clash on Wednesday. A 5-0 win on aggregate sends the Red Devils to the competition’s final, where they meet Newcastle at Wembley.

Rashford with two assists!

United started the game by pushing for an early breakthrough with quick runs down both flanks.

Alejandro Garnacho managed to get past Forest’s backline a few times. But United’s attacks lacked enough edge to break the visitors’ resistance.

Ten Hag made a number of changes to his lineup at the beginning of the second period. Jadon Sancho’s mysterious exile from Man Utd’s squad officially ended when he came in for Antony in the 63rd minute.

United increased the pressure on their opponents’ defence and finally broke the deadlock ten minutes later. Following a one-two between Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, the Frenchman made it 1-0 for the Red Devils.

Only three minutes later, Rashford registered another assist to secure United’s victory. Following a masterful cross from Bruno Fernandes, Rashford aimed for the goal, but his shot found Fred, who then nodded home from close range.

Man Utd will face Newcastle in the EFL Cup final on February 26.
