Liverpool have fallen eight points behind Man City after their recent run of bad results.

Liverpool suffered a 1-0 defeat against Leicester City on Tuesday. But that has not been their only underwhelming result lately. Tottenham held the Reds to a 1-1 draw on December 19, exposing their lack of balance in defence.

The results have prevented Liverpool from keeping up with Man City’s incredible run of form. The Citizens are on a ten-game winning streak in the Premier League while leading the table with an eight-point clearance.

Following his side’s 1-0 win over Brentford, Man City forward Phil Foden spoke about the title race.

“You can see that other teams are dropping points at the moment and that just shows how challenging the league is,” Foden said, cited by the Manchester Evening News.

“There is not one easy game in the league, so we have to remain focused and keep going.

“It is looking good, but this league is the most challenging one and you cannot take your foot off the gas because any team can beat you.

“We have to remain focused and keep playing our game.

“It feels really good to get on the scoresheet. The main thing was to get the three points today because other teams are dropping points at the moment.

“We just want to keep going and get as many points as we can.”

Foden scored his side’s only goal against Brentford. The Man City forward insists his side must remain focused regardless of the other teams’ results.

“It was an important win today,” he told the club’s official website.

“Around Christmas time, you can’t take your foot off the gas, you have to keep going and remain focused which this team is doing at the moment and you can see we are getting lots of points.

“It is the most challenging league in the world and it just goes to show that you can drop points at any time.

“The team is remaining focused at the moment and playing really well so I am happy.”

Manchester City will take on Arsenal on Saturday while Liverpool faces Chelsea the day after.
