The Norwegian striker was linked with a move to Old Trafford before joining Man City.

Erling Haaland has opened up on his feelings toward the city rivalry between Manchester City and Manchester United.

The newly-signed Man City striker is settling into life at his new club after a summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

Man United were also among Haaland’s suitors, but he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Citizens.

“It’s all about banter and I enjoy that,” the Norwegian star told FourFourTwo of the rivalry between City and United.

“I’ve already met some United supporters here in the city, and we’re always joking with each other. It’s about not taking everything too seriously.

“There are a lot of United fans in my home town in Norway, so I’ve always had to have a go at them.

“I’m used to this and I love it. Don’t take things too seriously. I want to be able to talk a bit like the fans, otherwise it gets a bit boring, doesn’t it?”

Haaland has scored three goals in his first three appearances for City. His goal brought the Citizens back to the game when they were two goals down in their 3-3 draw against Newcastle last week.

The former Dortmund striker has a chance to experience his first Manchester derby when his side host United on October 2.
