It took them a minute but Salah and Liverpool finally put an end to the negative streak at Anfield Road tonight against Aston Villa.

A Mo Salah-led Liverpool finally put an end to the negative streak they had since December 2020. The Reds faced Aston Villa tonight and things didn’t start well for them. Ollie Watkins scored the opening goal that prolonged their nightmares a little longer than previously expected. Bobby Firmino scored an equalizer that VAR denied him in controversial fashion but fortune was still on their side tonight.

Mo Salah got to score a brilliant equalizer and Trent Alexander-Arnold got the last-minute winner. With this victory, Liverpool gets to keep their hopes for a Top-Four finish and finally ended this terrible streak. It comes with perfect timing before Real Madrid pays them a visit for the crucial Champions League return leg. After the match, Mo Salah was absolutely thrilled about the victory.

Salah: ‘Finally!’

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Mo Salah celebrated the win and analyzed the game: “Finally! It was a great game, tough game but we won the game and that was the most important thing. We have lost a couple of games here and mentally it was like ‘oh no, not again’ but we did a good job second-half.

“It’s hard not to win at Anfield for a couple of games, we also missed a couple of chances in the first half and we were thinking ‘not again’ but the second half we managed to play good. It’s really important to win. I think there are only seven games left? So it’s really important. We want to play Champions League next year but we just need to focus on each game and try and win them all and hopefully, we can be in that fourth place.”
