'Let me speak!' - Angry Pique confronts Clasico referee

The FC Barcelona defender had to be restrained as he confronted the referee following Clasico defeat to Real Madrid.

A furious Gerard Pique confronted referee Jesus Gil Manzano after Barcelona lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in Saturday’s Clasico showdown.

Ronald Koeman’s men lost crucial ground in the La Liga title battle by suffering a first defeat in 19 games. Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos scored the goals to nail Real Madrid a vital win. It didn’t go down without drama or controversy, however, and left plenty to talk about afterward.

Koeman, for one, was furious Manzano didn’t award Barcelona a late penalty for a foul on Martin Braithwaite.

And Pique, who was an unused substitute, was displeased himself and was the first man to confront Manzano after the referee blew for the final whistle.

“You gave us little extra time, and you’ve been off the field for a long time,” he told Manzano.

Barcelona delegate Carlos Naval had to try to restrain Pique as he pleaded: “‘Let me speak, let me speak.”
