Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is calling for a ‘fair’ decision by the Premier League regarding the return of fans to stadiums.

Marcelo Bielsa says fans should only be allowed to return to stadiums when all clubs have the go-ahead to do so.

After the absence of fans in stadiums since March, the UK government has eased the ban on spectators attending outdoor events.

We already reported about the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson that will see fans finally return to stadiums starting the 2nd of December.

However, some clubs will not be able to do so just yet because they are deemed ‘high-risk’ areas.

Leeds, alongside the Manchester clubs, fall under this category and Marcelo Bielsa feels it is an unfair condition while other clubs would be allowed to welcome spectators back at their grounds.

“Perhaps there could be a rule that states that if fans are not allowed in all stadiums, then they should not be allowed in at all until everybody is allowed to have them in,” Bielsa said as quoted by The Independent.

“It shouldn’t be about the category, or the consequences of being in a category, it should be about trying to maintain the competition as equal as possible with things that are controllable.

“The presence of the fans has an effect on the results. What the organisation says is people who are from places where there’s a higher risk of infection will be penalised.”

Bielsa does have a point but the long-awaited return of fans will mean eligible clubs will also not be in support of this.

It is a scenario some clubs will have to make do with at the moment.
