The transfer race for Erling Haaland appears to have taken another twist.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland wants to join Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window, according to Lluis Carrasco.

The 21-year-old will be one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe when his reported €75 million release clause becomes active this summer.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are all tipped to make moves at the end of the season.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has recently said he has ‘nothing to announce’ amid rumors that he, along with the club’s sporting advisor Jordi Cruyff, met with Haaland and his agent Mino Raiola in Munich last week.

‘Haaland prefers to play and live in Barcelona’

But Carrasco, who was president Joan Laporta’s campaign manager in the last election, has made an eye-opening claim.

“Haaland’s father, a former Citizens player, prefers City. It is true, they are twice as important as Barça,” Carrasco posted on Twitter.

“But he has a problem: Barça want their son, not him, and the son prefers to play and live in Barcelona. We are not as far away as they say.”

Catalan outlet Diario Sport has also claimed Haaland wants to join Barcelona in the summer.

What next for Barca?

The Blaugrana return to Europa League action on Thursday for the first leg of their last-16 tie against Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Barcelona enter the contest hoping to make it five wins in a row across all competitions. Judging by the current odds from Bet365, they’re on course to do just that. A home win is priced at 1.14, while odds for a Galatasaray win are at a staggering 17.00 at the time of writing.
