The struggling Blues striker has failed to score in his last nine appearances for the club across all competitions.

Frank Lampard isn’t worried about Timo Werner’s lack of goals recently. He feels the German is going through an adaptation phase right now and will come good for Chelsea with time and patience.

The €53m summer signing from RB Leipzig last scored a goal for Chelsea in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United on November 7.

He has since gone nine games without a goal for the club in all competitions following Monday’s 3-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League.

Werner could’ve ended his barren run in the match, having hit the bar after some excellent play from N’Golo Kante. He also fired a weak shot straight at Lukasz Fabianski towards the end of the first half.

“I’m not worried,” Lampard said on Werner’s goal troubles during his post-match conference at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

“Every striker will want to be scoring goals, it’s what they ultimately get judged on and that’s why Timo was a great acquisition for us because of the level of goals he’s scored in the last few years.

“He’s a player in a new league and we have to give him time to settle but he’s getting into positions regularly, he’s scaring teams and giving them a problem.”

The Chelsea boss added: “It’s not quite going in for him at the moment, but as soon as that changes then we’ll see goals from Timo Werner for sure.”

Thiago Silva instead put the Blues ahead with a 10th-minute header against West Ham. Tammy Abraham’s second-half brace sealed the London derby victory, moving the club up to fifth in the Premier League table.

It wasn’t all good news, however, as Ben Chilwell suffered an ankle injury and is a doubt for Chelsea’s next game against Arsenal on Boxing Day.
