Frank Lampard briefly addressed allegations about a rumored fall-out with Marcos Alonso in Chelsea’s Premier League game against West Brom.

The Athletic reported that Lampard gave Alonso ‘a furious dressing down’ in front of the entire Chelsea squad in last weekend’s 3-3 draw away to West Brom in the Premier League.

The Spaniard, who came off for Cesar Azpilicueta at half-time, attempted to watch the second half on the team coach rather than with the substitutes. Moreover, he had done so without Lampard’s permission.

Speaking for the first time on this alleged bust-up, Lampard briefly addressed the fallout without giving too much away.

“I’m not going to disclose what goes on in the dressing room,” said the Chelsea boss in a press conference on Friday.

“I think that would be wrong, so that was it. It was a game we were disappointed to be 3-0 down at half-time.

“I had to make changes and all I ask from all the players is whatever, for good or for bad, the players stick together in every moment as that is the only thing that brings a successful group so that’s as much as I’ve got to say on it.”

Alonso, along with fellow left-back Emerson Palmieri, faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. Especially as Chelsea forked out over €50m to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

“It doesn’t affect anything ongoing,” continued Lampard. “I cannot have grudges or feelings in games that carry on.

“We work, we’re honest with each other and we carry on working to get better and better and things happen during the course of the season, they happen a lot.”

Chelsea will return to action on Saturday afternoon for a Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace.
