Leonardo Bonucci’s medical tests have revealed that there is nothing too serious about his condition, Juventus have confirmed.

Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci was in the starting XI for Sunday’s Serie A encounter against Hellas Verona but failed to last the entire match.

The veteran defender hobbled off the field, clutching his hamstring, under duress with 15 minutes left to play, with his actions suggesting that he had picked up an injury on his right thigh.

It was feared that the Italian center-back would miss the crucial Champions League group stage clash against FC Barcelona.

Although his availability for the Group G fixtures remains doubtful, the Serie A champions have informed that Bonucci’s condition is not as alarming as it initially appeared to be.

“The tests he underwent today did not reveal any muscle injuries to his right thigh,” the statement released by Juve read, as per Football Italia.

“Therefore, his condition will be monitored day by day.”

Should Bonucci still be sidelined come Wednesday, Juve could be forced to start Gianluca Frabotta and Danilo, both full-backs, as center-backs.

Merih Demiral is the only available central defender for selection for Andrea Pirlo at present, with both Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt out injured. Cristiano Ronaldo, who is recovering from COVID-19, could sit out the clash against Lionel’s Messi side.
