The third-placed Red Devils trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by 11 points, but do have a game in hand.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described Manchester United as a ‘results machine’, insisting they are a genuine Premier League title contender.

Erik ten Hag’s side visit Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool in excellent form. They’re on an 11-match unbeaten run, winning 16 of their 20 post-World Cup games (D3 L1).

A 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in last weekend’s EFL Cup final earned United their first trophy since the Europa League in May 2017.

“They have turned into a results machine,” Klopp told reporters in a pre-match press conference on Friday.

“They are squeezing results out with some really good performances. They’re playing some top football. If it is not going so well for them, they still get results. That’s why they are there [in the table].

“Everyone knows it: they are fully in a fight to win the league. That’s not really important for Sunday because we are there as well when we try to be at our best.”
