Liverpool manager has claimed the away goal rule won’t affect his side in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp has insisted UEFA scrapping the away goals rule in the Champions League will not affect Liverpool when they take on Inter this week.

The Reds take on the Serie A giants in the round of 16 on Wednesday night and according to the new UEFA ruling, there will be no away goals rule.

Klopp admitted he was a fan of a rule and was sorry to see it scrapped, but admitted his side would play to win the game regardless.

“We can say more about that after the two games,” he said. “I can’t remember a game where we went somewhere and thought at least a goal would be great.

“We go there to get a result, whatever it means. I don’t know what will be a good result at the moment. Winning would be great, maybe a draw we would have to take.

“I don’t know, we will see. First of all we have to play the game. I actually liked the rule, even as a supporter before. Long in my life I have watched Champions League rather than being part of it. I liked the rule, I don’t know why they scrapped it.

“It’s now gone and it’s all okay, we will deal with that. I don’t think it is a massive impact on the way we’ll play.

“We don’t go there to somehow get through the game. We try to play our best game and to win it, but that is really difficult.”
