The Liverpool boss expects the Egyptian star to use the defeat for extra motivation.

Mohamed Salah faced his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday. However, he was not able to help his side win the final as they missed out on the trophy after losing the penalty shootouts.

The Egyptian striker returned to Liverpool‘s training two days later. However, the Reds’ German manager Jurgen Klopp says he is yet to clear his mind completely of the defeat.

“He is happy to be back but is disappointed as well,” Klopp told reporters (via Mirror). “Yesterday everyone could see that he still has the final in his mind.”

He added: “Greater determination for Mo? I am not sure that is human. I don’t think there’s a lot space for more determination in Mo’s mind.

“He will use this kind of thing, that’s the job of all of us, losing a final is hard, but using it for the next big game can at least help.

“We are the best example of that, losing a final is hard. But if you use it for the next big tournament, it can still be helpful.

“How we will benefit from it exactly, I don’t know.”

Salah will return to Liverpool’s squad for their match against Leicester City on Friday. The Reds will then meet Burnley in their next league game four days later.
