After the Champions group-stage draw, Joe Cole offered an optimistic prediction of Chelsea’s prospects.

Joe Cole has tipped Chelsea to book a spot in the Champions League knockout stage with ease.

Thursday night’s draw saw Chelsea paired with Juventus, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Malmo in Group H as they begin the defense of their European title next month.

But a confident Cole expects no problems in Group H and thinks the Blues can already begin ‘scouting hotels and venues’ for the next round of the competition, which starts in February.

“Juventus, they’re not the threat that they would have been two or three years ago when they seemed to be beating everyone,” the former Chelsea winger said on BT Sport.

“Malmo is the enigma – they’ve not been in the competition a while but that’s a good away trip. The fans are going to enjoy that one. And Zenit St Petersburg, that’s where the final is going to be.

“I don’t want to get above of myself but they can start scouting hotels and venues.”

Chelsea return to action on Saturday evening for a trip to Liverpool in the Premier League.
