Kyle Walker’s poor defending led to his side going behind at the Etihad, and Roy Keane was not at all impressed by his performance.

Liverpool were first to strike in Sunday’s Premier League game against Manchester City, with Mohamed Salah converting from the spot.

Kyle Walker hacked down Sadio Mane inside the box with a clumsy tackle early in the first half, prompting referee Craig Pawson to point to the spot.

Walker did not exactly have his best game in a Man City shirt as he also picked up a booking in the dying moments of the game for a late challenge on Georginio Wijnaldum.

It was not the first time that he had conceded a penalty this season, having done so in his side’s 5-2 defeat against Leicester City.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane did not hold back in his assessment of the full-back’s performance during the half-time break.

Asked how Mane had earned himself a penalty, Keane told Sky Sports: “Because he’s up against an idiot.

“Kyle Walker, people tell me he is playing well but I don’t think so. I think this guy is 30 years of age, an international player, he’s a car crash, he keeps making these types of mistakes and rightly punished for it.”
