The ex-Manchester United teammates let the emotions get the better of themselves in the first half of the Milan derby at San Siro.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have escaped additional punishments for their passionate clash in the Derby Della Madonnina on Tuesday.

Both the strikers were sent off after their tempers flared up in the Coppa Italia quarter-final and will only serve a one-match suspension, as per the press release from the Italian Sports Judge.

The Belgian striker, who was one booking away from a suspension before the game, picked up a yellow and will miss the semi-final first leg against Juventus next week.

Lukaku had found the net before being sent off while Christian Eriksen came off the bench and scored a brilliant free-kick as Inter Milan recorded a 2-1 win over AC Milan.

The ageless Swede later received another booking for a foul, receiving a one-match ban valid for Coppa Italia games. Ibrahimovic’s suspension will come into force the next season.

However, the Italian Football Federation could reportedly still open an investigation on the account of possible discrimination with the Federal Prosecutor yet to receive the referee’s report of the extraordinary incident.
