Jose Mourinho has refused to discuss the future of Gareth Bale amid reports linking the forward with a return to Tottenham.

Gareth Bale had been on a decline for the past few years and fell completely out of favor at Real Madrid towards the end of their La Liga title-winning campaign last season.

The Welshman, once the most expensive player in the world, failed to feature in any of his side’s league matches after football resumed.

Speculations regarding his exit from Santiago Bernabeu have been existent for quite a while now, but they grew stronger only in this summer.

The 33-year old’s relationship with Zinedine Zidane, as well as the Madridistas, tainted following a failed move to China.

Bale is understood to be on the verge of making his return to the Premier League with talks of a one-year loan deal to Tottenham as he seeks to rebuild his reputation as an elite attacker.

Jose Mourinho was asked to provide some clarity on the rumors after Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Europa League second qualifying round.

“I cannot comment, I don’t comment on something that I don’t know,” Mourinho replied, as per Football London.

“For me, at this moment, until I’m told Gareth Bale is a Tottenham player, I still think and feel and respect the fact that he’s a Real Madrid player. So, I’m not going to comment on a Real Madrid player.”
