After an injury-plagued start to his Barcelona career, Sergio Aguero made his long-awaited debut at the weekend.

Sergio Aguero has thanked Barcelona fans for the warm reception they gave him on his debut.

Three months after arriving at Camp Nou on a free transfer from Manchester City, Aguero made his Barcelona debut in Sunday’s La Liga match against Valencia as a late substitute.

The striker replaced Sergino Dest in the 87th-minute. It may have only been brief, but it was still an immense relief for him after battling a calf injury since August.

“I am very happy with the debut. The important thing is that we won,” said Aguero, as quoted by AS.

“It was incredible that the audience sang ‘Kun, Kun, Kun’. I liked this song. I can’t hug everyone one by one, but I hope they enjoy my game. I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. The important thing was to win today.”

Barcelona won the match 3-1 after Ansu Fati, Memphis Depay, and Philippe Coutinho scored following Jose Gaya’s early opening goal for Valencia.

Ronald Koeman’s men sit seventh in La Liga on 15 points and five points behind leaders Real Sociedad.
