The Reds captain suggests his side should’ve started the game with more intent but is happy with their response after going down.

Jordan Henderson refuses to provided excuses for Liverpool’s failure to seal all three points in Sunday’s Premier League fixture but hints their dip in standard is a result of the intense schedule.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were unable to take advantage of Tottenham dropping points against Crystal Palace and move to the top of the table as they too slipped up against Fulham.

A share of spoils was seen at Craven Cottage as Mohamed Salah scored from the spot just prior to the match entering its final 10 minutes after Bobby Reid had put Fulham on the front foot midway through the first half.

The 1-1 result means the Reds are now level on points with Jose Mourinho’s side but sit just below them on goal difference.

“We didn’t get going until after the first 30 minutes. You can’t do that in the Premier League or you get punished – like we did,” captain Henderson told Sky Sports after the full-time whistle.

“The good thing is we reacted well. We dominated and should have scored one or more two. I’m disappointed with the start, pleased with the reaction.

“We’ll have to look at it but it’s not like us.

“I don’t want to make excuses. I’ll let you talk about the amount of games teams are playing. For whatever reason, we didn’t start well. Maybe we could have won the game on another day.”
