The German has earned himself a special nickname after scoring the winning goals for Chelsea in the Champions League and Club World Cup finals.

Chelsea attacking midfielder Kai Havertz has humbly dismissed his ‘King Kai’ nickname.

At the age of 22, Havertz feels it’s too early to consider himself a legend and insists he would never call himself a ‘King’.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star has become a fan favorite at Chelsea, namely for his match-winning goals in the Champions League and Club World Cup finals over the past year.

“Those who know me know that I would never call myself that,” Havertz told Sport1 about his royal nickname.

“Most people call me Kai. The king comes more from the press. You are certainly not a legend at the age of 22, but you are part of the successful history of the club, and that stays forever.”

The Germany international’s extra-time penalty on Saturday sealed Chelsea a 2-1 win against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup final, after Raphael Veiga’s own spot-kick canceled out Romelu Lukaku’s opening goal.

Havertz has now supplied 15 goals and 13 assists in 73 appearances since his club-record €80 million in September 2020.
