The BVB manager believes the goalscoring responsibility for the team should not be entirely on the young shoulders of Erling Haaland.

Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland set the world on fire after his €20 million transfer from RB Salzburg in January.

Despite joining the team halfway through 2019/20, the striker ended the season as their top scorer – with 16 goals through 18 appearances.

The Norway international is continuing his goalscoring streak this season, having netted five times in the first six games already.

Haaland will be expected to be the difference-maker for his side when they commence their European journey at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, but Lucien Favre apparently does not fully share the same sentiment.

“We can’t count on Haaland too much as he always played with his national team,” Favre said during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League group stage clash against Lazio, as per Football Italia.

Marco Reus hasn’t had made many starts for Dortmund due to injury setbacks but he could return to the starting XI on Wednesday night. Lukasz Piszczek, who sustained a back injury last month, meanwhile, remains doubtful.

“Reus was stopped due to an injury, he also needs to watch himself, Favre added. “We’ll evaluate Piszczek tomorrow and draw our conclusions.”
