The Norwegian superstar has several clubs interested in his services for this summer, including Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has hinted that he could decide his next career move in the coming weeks.

The 21-year-old’s future has been up in the clouds for some time. The reported €75 million release clause in his Dortmund contract, which runs until 2024, becomes active in the summer. Several sides are interested, although the player and his club have remained coy – until now.

With the season halfway over, Haaland has admitted that Dortmund want answers. He even implied that the pressure from the club means ‘things will happen now’, instead of in the summer.

‘Now is the time to get things started’

In an interview with former Norwegian striker Jan Age Fjortoft for Viaplay, after scoring a brace in Dortmund’s 5-1 win over Freiburg on Friday, Haaland revealed where he currently stands.

“The last six months, I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund,” he said.

“But now the club has started to pressure me into making a decision, but all I want to do is to play football. But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.

“I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football because that is when I am at my best, not when other things come into my mind.

“Now they have put pressure for a while. So it is time to get things started. All I want to do is to play football, but I can’t do that now.”

Dortmund CEO explains Haaland’s comments

The German club’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, quickly responded to Haaland’s comments afterward to play down any possible suggestions of a rift.

“There’s no problem with Erling,” Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten. “He is a spontaneous person. He’s allowed to do that. But he must also have some understanding for our situation – we can’t wait until the end of May.”

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool are just some of the several clubs reportedly eyeing him up for a summer move.
