Christian Eriksen has returned to preliminary gym training for the first time since his frightful incident back at the Euros.

Denmark and Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen has decided to slowly merge into his training with gym sessions at his youth club, Odense Boldklub (OB).

The 29-year-old has not been in touch with football since he suffered from a cardiac arrest during Demark’s opening game against Finland at Euro 2020.

The world witnessed his teammate and Danish captain Simon Kjaer save his life on the pitch. And Eriksen has successfully completed his rehabilitation after the horrific incident.

“Eriksen reached out to us, and he is now training by himself,” a spokesperson for Odense Boldklub (OB) told Reuters.

“It’s natural for him since he played here in his youth and lives around the corner. We are very happy to be able to provide training facilities for him,” he said.

Eriksen played for OB before he moved to Ajax Amsterdam in 2008 where he rose to stardom. Later, the playmaker saw a move to Tottenham in 2013 while making an appearance in the 2019 Champions League with the English side. The Denmark international signed for Inter Milan last year.

The Italian medical authority did not allow Eriksen to appear on the field for Nerazzurri. Because of a strict protocol banning the use of a cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device that was planted inside of him.

In fact, the Serie A club were also open to letting the midfielder leave if he wanted to, but nothing happened in that regard. Anyhow, the OB spokesperson is unaware as to when he started or how long will the star plan to work on their premises.
