Real Madrid defeated Elche 3-0 in their La Liga game on Wednesday. Elche put up a fight against their opponents’ superior firepower but couldn’t prevent Real Madrid from claiming another league victory.
Back-to-back wins for Blancos!
Similar to their crucial win over Barcelona on Sunday, Real Madrid started the game by looking for an early breakthrough.
Once again, the Blancos were successful in hurting their opponents early on. Federico Valverde opened the scoring only 11 minutes into the game, smashing a sublime low shot into the bottom of the net.
The Blancos came close to extending their lead before half-time. They scored twice, but both goals were ruled out for offsides.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men restarted their efforts to score more goals as soon as the second half started. But this time, Elche looked more and more dangerous on the counter-attacks.
Following a few missed chances by the hosts, Real Madrid finally doubled their lead through Karim Benzema in the 75th minute.
An assist from Rodrygo saw the Ballon d’Or winner rifle a precise shot into the bottom-left corner of the net from behind the box.
Real Madrid continued their attacks after Benzema’s goal, with Marco Asensio putting the icing on the cake by scoring his side’s third goal of the night.
The victory keeps Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, increasing their lead over Barcelona to seven points.
