Reports in the media on Thursday claimed Ronaldo and his agent tried to negotiate a deal with the German club.

Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United this summer, according to Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The German club’s chief executive admires Ronaldo, but he has denied that any talks ever took place between Dortmund and the player’s representatives over a summer transfer.

Watzke’s announcement comes a day after reports emerged linking BVB to CR7. According to CBS Sport, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, was ‘actively working on a move’. The pair allegedly saw it as a last chance to escape Manchester United.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund? That’s very charming at first glance,” Watzke said at a press conference on Friday.

“He is one of the greatest players the world has ever seen.

“The only catch is that there is no contact at all between the parties involved and certainly no transfer.”

Dortmund signed veteran striker Anthony Modeste from Koln last week to replace Sebastien Haller, who will be out for a long time after being diagnosed with a testicular tumor last month.

Haller arrived from Ajax this summer to replace star attacker Erling Haaland, who now plays for Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Dortmund return to action on Saturday to play Werder Bremen in their next Bundesliga match.
