The Manchester United legend expressed his pride after his son made his first senior appearance for Inter Miami.

Romeo Beckham has broken into Inter Miami’s senior team after coming up the academy ranks at the club. His father, David Beckham, who played for Inter Miami in the final years of his career, is the club’s co-owner.

The Manchester United legend is now looking for Romeo to follow in his footsteps and find his feet in professional football. The 19-year-old made a big step in his career by playing his senior debut against Peruvian side Universitarios.

He wrote on Instagram after the game: “First match in front of our fans. Insane.”

His father then responded to post by writing a supportive message.

“Well done mate,” the former United star wrote.

David Beckham commented on his son's Instagram post marking the occasion

Romeo Beckham signed his first professional contract at Inter Miami in September 2021. However, he is not the only offspring of a former Manchester United star at Inter Miami. Phil Neville’s son Harvey is also playing for the club at the senior level. The teenage right-back scored against Universitarios, but his father confessed he did not see his goal as he was remonstrating with the fourth official.

“Honestly, I missed the goal, I was talking to the fourth official. Somebody said it was a decent goal,” the Inter Miami boss said (via Mirror).

“He’s doing well, he’s working hard,” Phil said of his son. “He’s waiting for green card status to become a US citizen. It’s a long process.

“But like all the young players he’s going to get opportunities in the pre-season. Do I like coaching him? Sometimes yes, other times no.

“It’s something we have to get used to, particularly finding the balance between being a dad and being his coach.”
