The Portugal captain appears to have given his social media followers a peek into the state of his mind after a tough year.

Cristiano Ronaldo posted a cryptic message on social media after his World Cup dream ended.

The 37-year-old forward took to Instagram on Monday to offer fans a peek into his current mindset, with a post that read: “Three aspects of reality: pain, uncertainty and constant work.”

The post came just days after Portugal’s World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco on Saturday, where Youssef En-Nesyri’s first-half header sealed a 1-0 win for the North Africans.

The defeat is expected to be Ronaldo’s final World Cup appearance, as he will be 41 when the 2026 tournaments begin, effectively ending his dream of becoming a world champion with Portugal.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus frontman will now need to decide on his next club after leaving Manchester United. He and the Red Devils parted ways last month after mutually agreeing to end their contract.

Despite reports of a lucrative offer from Al Nassr, Ronaldo has denied any agreement with the Saudi Arabian club. Staying in Europe is the likely priority for the five-time Champions League winner, who is a free agent for the first time in his senior career.
