Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte believes his players will face a tough opponent in the upcoming UCL outing.

Antonio Conte’s Inter travels to Ukraine for the UEFA Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening.

The hosts are on top of Group B after the first round, following a surprising 3-2 away win over Real Madrid.

Inter, on the other hand, opened the 2020-21 UCL campaign with a 1-1 draw vs Monchengladbach, thanks to a late equalizer from Romelu Lukaku.

Both sides faced each other in the semi-finals of the Europa League back in August. Inter won the game 5-0, as Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez bagged a brace at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf.

The Nerazzurri’s boss, however, does not expect a similar outcome of tomorrow’s encounter.

“We can’t make comparisons to the game played in August,” said Conte via Inter’s official website.

“We produced the perfect performance, both in and out of possession. We watched that match back with the lads and came to this conclusion once again.

“It’ll be important to repeat what we did. Shakhtar are a strong side with players who are technically gifted, fast and strong on the counter: you don’t score three goals against Real Madrid by coincidence. We hope to produce a good display and implement what we’ve prepared.

“They’re a strong side who belong in European football, and I’d like to compliment them because they always manage to find really strong players.”
