Tottenham wanted Christian Eriksen but the Dane’s heart was elsewhere and forced a move to Inter Milan six-months before his contract was up.

It is difficult to please Antonio Conte, but he was happy when Christian Eriksen arrived at the San Siro. However, the move has not transpired as Eriksen would have hoped for, consigned to the fringes of the first team in Milan.

Despite the daunting task of proving himself once again, the 28-year-old is pleased with his decision. Eriksen want to start the 2020/21 season with a clean slate and hopes Inter Milan share his point of view.

“I had a few days off, but now I’m with the national team and I still haven’t had any information on what the club will do when I return,” Football Italia quoted Eriksen.

“I certainly hope to return and that everyone starts from scratch, then we’ll have to see what the coach really thinks.

Eriksen has struggled to claim a place in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up and the former Tottenham Hotspur star spoke of a different reality in Milan.

“I was used to always being a starter, now I’m living a new situation. I have to work my way out of it and only then look back and see if I was right or wrong.

“You have to take everything as it comes. I feel I have done my part and overall, I was happy with the choice I made to come to Inter and I still am.”

Eriksen is with the Denmark national team. They take on the challenge of Belgium and England in the UEFA Nations League.
