Kai Havertz scored a late winner to clinch a crucial Premier League win for the Blues.

Chelsea defeated Newcastle 1-0 in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Blues continued their six-game winning streak across all competitions amid uncertainty over the club’s financial situation.

Havertz strikes again!

Thomas Tuchel seems to have found his favourite attacking setup in Chelsea’s recent games. Omitting Romelu Lukaku from his starting lineup, the German boss uses Kai Havertz in front of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in his three-man forward line.

Newcastle’s much-improved backline managed to hold Chelsea at bay throughout the first period. They even had a few chances to score the opener, with Miguel Almiron coming the closest in the 45th minute.

However, a super save from Edouard Mendy prevented the guest from going ahead before the interval. Chelsea started their attacks to clinch the opening goal as soon as the second half started.

However, it took the Blues almost another 45 minutes before finally breaking the deadlock. Following a precise cross from Jorginho, Havertz took a slight touch before smashing the ball into the back of the net from the right-inside channel.

The goal was enough to earn another crucial victory for Tuchel’s side while ending Newcastle’s impressive run of ten unbeaten games in the league.
