On the day he received the EFE Award for the best Ibero-American player of 2020, Casemiro wanted to motivate the rest of his teammates. Although it’s been a difficult season for Real Madrid, they are still very much alive in two other competitions. The Copa del Rey elimination needs to be a cathartic moment for them to realize they need to improve on a massive scale. With Atletico Madrid’s latest result, Real Madrid is only six points away from them at the moment.
This obviously gives Casemiro hope for what can happen over the next few months. Also, getting this award puts his name next to legends such as Ronaldo Nazario, Roberto Carlos, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Fernando Redondo. But for Casemiro, the most important thing right now is the team’s well-being. Next week’s match against Atalanta is the most important of the whole season.
Casemiro sees improvement in his teammates.
Contrary to what others might think, Casemiro actually thinks Real Madrid is improving. He is convinced the next few months will be the best for Los Blancos. “The best part of the season is coming up now because the important games are upon us,” said Casemiro to Real Madrid’s official website. “We’ve got the Champions League to come and there are 45 points to play for in LaLiga. We’re ready, are on a good run and are performing well.
“We played really well against Valencia and we’re on good form as we head into the most important period of the season, which is coming up now. Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Redondo… those names speak volumes of the importance of this award. I’m really happy and want to thank my teammates again and also EFE for giving me this award in a really tough but very special year for me.”
