Real Madrid will most likely be without Carlo Ancelotti for their Champions League clash with Chelsea on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t travelled with Real Madrid to London for their Champions League clash with Chelsea scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

The Los Blancos boss tested positive for Covid-19 last week and was replaced in the dugout by his son and assistant coach Davide in Real Madrid’s win over Celta Vigo on Saturday.

However, according to Football Italia, the 62-year-old could still make the clash if he returns a negative test on Wednesday and flies to London immediately after.

The visitors are also without Eden Hazard, Isco, and Luka Jovic, who have all been ruled out of the clash due to injury.

Real Madrid take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals as a number of old faces return to familiar stomping grounds.

Ancelotti managed the Blues for two seasons between 2009 and 2011, winning one Premier League, one FA Cup, and one Charity Shield during his time at the club.

Thibaut Courtois also returns to the Bridge, with the goalkeeper admitting he hopes the Chelsea fans “don’t boo him”. Courtois left Chelsea in 2018 on rather unhappy terms after failing to turn up for training, but the Belgian is hoping to have a “happy return” on Wednesday.

“I hope that they [supporters] don’t boo me, but you never know,” Courtois said.

“I hope it’s a happy return to Stamford Bridge. We’re now rivals. They’ll want to win and the same goes for me. So I’m not expecting any applause from the fans.”
