After winning the treble at Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick is concerned about his star speedster.

Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick believes that winger Alphonso Davies is not living up to his standards this season.

Distinctly, Davies displayed his swift performance in the season 2019-20. Thus, he was one of the world’s best left-wingers after aiding Bayern to win the treble.

The Canada international is struggling to secure his spot in the first team this season. Evidently, Lucas Hernandez appeared ahead of Davies in Saturday’s 4-1 win against Arminia Bielefeld.

Though, Davies has racked up six appearances this season with four in the starting XI.

However, Flick suggested that the winger is not living up to his standards at the moment. At a press conference ahead of Bayern’s Champions League clash vs Atletico Madrid, he talked about Davies.

“Alphonso’s form dropped a bit,” Flick said. “But he gets all our support. We benefit from his pace, his energy. It’s important he gets back on track. It’s a bit normal to see a young player go through such a spell following an incredible season. We will support and help him.”

Furthermore, after Niko Kovac’s departure in November 2019, Flick guided the Bavarian giants through a mind-blowing campaign. Consequently, Bayern won everything including Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League.

More to worry about.

Nevertheless, Flick is now preoccupied regarding a difficult season ahead. This is also because he will be handling the team for a complete season.

“We want to be as successful as possible,” Flick added. “But to reach the optimum as we did recently will be extremely difficult. Especially in the Champions League, there are many very good opponents. It is all about taking one game at a time. It has served us well to focus on the road ahead.”

In addition, ahead of Bayern’s clash at Allianz Arena, Flick is eager to face a tough opponent.

“It will be a game that will be on equal terms because Atletico are a team that reflects on the pitch what their coach Diego Simeone stands for and that is passion,” Flick said. “I look forward to the game and the coach who has been doing outstanding work there for the past nine years.”
