Fresh from their DFL Supercup success last week, Bayern Munich will hope to make it back-to-back wins on Sunday evening. Facing them are Hertha BSC at the Allianz Arena before the Bundesliga heads into the international break.

Three points will very much be the target for Hansi Flick’s men following an unsettling defeat to Hoffenheim last weekend. Their foes, Hertha, fared no better themselves with a 3-1 home loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

All signs point to another Bayern victory and goal-laden affair, however, as the hosts look to make a statement against their rivals.

Bayern Munich Form & Stats

The quick turnaround from winning the Champions League on August 23 to starting the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign on September 18 made a telling impact on Bayern last weekend in the form of a 4-1 defeat to Hoffenheim.

Losing by such a margin was a shock for everybody in Germany. Especially as the team had just won the UEFA Super Cup three days beforehand against Sevilla. But their congested schedule left the players fatigued, with Robert Lewandowski notably absent from the starting line-up.

Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund not only secured a fifth trophy in 2020, but it ensured a quick return to winning ways. They’ll now hope to wrap things up with one more victory before the Bundesliga break. And considering their 16-match unbeaten run at the Allianz Arena, it’s hard to see Bayern losing this one.

Key Team Stats
  • Won last seven home league games.
  • Unbeaten against Hertha in last 18 home games in all competitions.
  • Over 2.5 goals scored in last five home league games.

Hertha BSC Form & Stats

After recording a strong 4-1 win over Werder Bremen in their Bundesliga opener, Hertha were brought back down to earth last weekend in a humbling 3-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in their second game.

Bruno Labbadia’s side may have held 57% possession and had most of the shots, but they couldn’t strike where it mattered most. Thus, the visitors head to Munich hoping to minimize the damage on Sunday evening.

Recent history, though, doesn’t favor Hertha as it’s been 18 games since they’ve beaten Bayern on their own turf. Although the visitors held them to a 2-2 draw in last season’s fixture in the Bundesliga.

Key Team Stats
  • Over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine away league games.
  • Lost 40 times and conceded 159 goals against Bayern in the league.
  • Last victory in Munich was in October 1977.
