The Catalan giants come back from behind to seal all three points and return to winning ways after a two-game losing streak.

FC Barcelona claimed a crucial victory over Valencia on Sunday, overcoming an early deficit to pick up what could be a decisive result in their La Liga campaign.

Barcelona shot themselves in the foot minutes after kick-off as a scrappy clearance attempt by them saw the ball fall right at the feet of Jose Gaya, who found the finish with a curling effort from just outside the box to hand his side the lead in the 5th minute.

Ronald Koeman’s men did not take too long to respond. Just seven minutes later, Ansu Fati drilled a first-time right-footed effort into the bottom far corner.

Fati then won a penalty that Memphis Depay converted to put Barca on the front foot. The Catalan giants’ new No 10 was scythed down in the box, and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Depay, who assisted his side’s first goal of the evening, used sheer power to beat Jasper Cillessen, who only stood and watched.

Philipe Coutinho wrapped up the win for his side, getting on the end of Sergino Dest’s cross and poking home from close range.

The result moves Barcelona up to fourth place in the La Liga table, five points behind leaders Real Sociedad. Valencia, meanwhile, sit at ninth with 12 points from nine games.
