Gerard Pique will miss the upcoming Barcelona match due to an injury picked up against Alaves.

Barcelona will face Dynamo Kyiv in a crunch Champions League battle on Tuesday.

The Catalans need the three points to keep their group stage qualifications alive. However, they will have to play without the service of their experienced center-back Gerard Pique.

“Tests this morning confirmed first-team player Gerard Pique has a right calf strain and will be out for the foreseeable future,” the club confirmed in an official statement.

On Saturday, pique was forced off the field in the 70th minute of Barca’s 1-1 draw against Alaves.

Pique scored the winning goal for the Blaugrana against Dynamo Kyiv earlier this month. With Ronald Araujo injured, the Catalans will most likely use Clement Lenglet in their backline for the upcoming match.

Barcelona are currently third in Group E of the Champions League with three points from three games. With Bayern Munich already out of reach, the Blaugrana will battle Benfica to reach the knock-out stage.

Following their match against Dynamo Kyiv, the Blaugrana will face Celta Vigo on Saturday. The Spanish side are looking forward to find their new manager after the sacking of Ronald Koeman, with club legend Xavi Hernandez reportedly being their preferred choice.
