Cesar Azpilicueta would part ways with Chelsea after a decade of stardom and Barcelona look for a possible free transfer.
Barcelona are sure that they will sign Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer this summer.
The 32-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge back in 2012. Since then, the Spaniard has established himself as one of the prominent players in England.
However, Azpilicueta has been contemplating the extension of his contract at the moment. It, therefore, gives Barca the opportunity to consider a deal for him, writes GOAL.
Head coach Xavi is attempting to bolster his defensive unit and is said to be fighting for getting the Chelsea star back in Spain. Azpilicueta’s agreement with the Blues expires in June and he will become a free agent.
Meanwhile, the Premier League are hoping that the defender will renew his deal for the 2022-23 season. In fact, negotiations have been taking place at the club between both parties.
But, any concrete decision over Azpilicueta’s renewal is far from close. Because there have been no transfer talks since January this year.
The Blues have put forth a proposal with a one-year extension along with a renewal for another season. This is also because of the star’s age, though, Barcelona might have an offer better than Chelsea.
