The Blaugrana did advance to the last 16 but they needed extra time due to the lack of cutting edge to get past the third-tier opponents.

Ronald Koeman insists FC Barcelona “can’t be happy” with their performance against Cornella despite successfully sealing a place in the Copa del Rey Round of 16.

Goals from Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite secured a 2-0 victory for Barca, but it was not as smooth sailing for them as the scoreline suggests.

The Catalan giants missed not one but two penalties, with Miralem Pjanic squandering a spot-kick in the first half and Dembele another one at the 80-minute mark.

“The key thing is always to progress to the next round, but we can’t be happy because we’ve missed chances and penalties and you need to have responsibility in these games,” a displeased Koeman said after the win at Nou Camp Municipal, via Marca.

“Again it’s 120 [minutes], which is an issue as that’s three straight matches now and it’s on us. We’ve made chances and had two penalties… that can’t happen.

“I can’t fault our effort, but it’s not just about running, also creating and being effective. It was tough for us today… it’s not acceptable.”

Pjanic and Dembele are the new entries in the infamous list of players missing penalties for Barcelona this season after Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, and Braithwaite.
