The Catalans cruised past Villarreal to stay second in La Liga.

Barcelona defeated Villarreal 3-0 in their La Liga game on Thursday. A fantastic first half saw the Catalans claim an easy win at Camp Nou.

Lewa with another brace!

Barcelona left no breathing room for their guests early on, creating several chances down both flanks.

The Catalans finally opened the scoring through Robert Lewandowski in the 30th minute. Following a cutback from Jordi Alba, the Polish striker made a brilliant turn inside the box before smashing the ball past Villarreal’s keeper.

Only four minutes later, Lewa completed his brace with another wonderful goal. This time, he broke into the box from the left-hand side before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the keeper.

Villarreal’s defence looked completely shattered under Barca’s firepower. Within minutes, Barca extended their lead to three goals.

Ansu Fati scored a backheel goal from close range to secure his side’s win before the half-time whistle.

Villarreal found little space to push for a comeback after half-time while Barca successfully controlled the game.
The victory keeps Barca in La Liga’s second spot, three points behind Real Madrid.

The Catalans will face Athletic Bilbao next Sunday before hosting Bayern in a must-win Champions League clash three days later.
