Eddie Nketiah revealed he is taking tips from Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on how to be a ‘top striker’.

Nketiah is one of the latest academy products from Hale End to make his mark in the Arsenal first-team, with the youngster already boasting 39 appearances to his name.

Mikel Arteta’s appointment as manager last December fast-tracked his route into the senior setup after an underwhelming loan spell at Leeds United. He even started in seven of the club’s final 15 Premier League games.

The 21-year-old has repaid Arteta for his faith by scoring five goals in his total of 20 appearances under him. There are obviously still areas he needs to improve on. But his strength, pace, and movements may prove valuable assets in the future.

Should he continue to develop in the upcoming months, Alexandre Lacazette may have his hands full keeping his spot in the line-up.

And now Aubameyang committed his future to the Gunners, Nketiah has the perfect role model to base his game on.

“Auba’s a great player and I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside him for a little while now,” Nketiah told the Evening Standard after scoring Arsenal’s winner in the 2-1 triumph over West Ham on Saturday.

“He’s a top striker and that’s where I want to be in the future. Whenever we’re training or working on little things, I’m always asking him about how he does it, how he prepares, and whether he has any little tips.

“Some of the variety in his finishing is just outstanding and what’s even better is that he is always willing to help other people out — he’s great to have around.

“He’s one of the best about and I’m always looking to learn from him.”
