The La Liga leaders have received a welcome boost as they begin preparations for next week’s Champions League match.

Atletico Madrid have welcomed back Joao Felix from self-isolation after the forward tested negative for COVID-19.

The 21-year-old has spent the last 13 days in isolation following a positive PCR result. He has missed Atletico’s last two La Liga games against Celta Vigo and Granada, from which the club obtained four points.

But Diego Simeone’s men can now breathe a sigh of relief.

According to Marca, Felix returned a negative COVID-19 result and attended training on Tuesday. The Portuguese trained separately from his teammates, but his reappearance is a welcome boost. Simeone will probably integrate him back into the squad later in the week.

Should things go according to plan, Felix could make a return to competitive action for the double-header against Levante on Wednesday and Saturday.

He will be keen to get some minutes on board ahead of Atletico’s first leg against Chelsea in their Champions League last-16 tie next week.

Lyon loanee Moussa Dembele, Hector Herrera, Yannick Carrasco, and Thomas Lemar all remain unavailable with COVID-19. Although Mario Hermoso has recovered from the disease.
