The Gunners head coach has reacted to Jamie Redknapp’s condemning comments on the striker who is having a hot and cold year.

Mikel Arteta does not agree with Jamie Redknapp on his opinion that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has “lost his superpower” and is “past his best”.

Aubameyang was criticized by the Sky Sports pundit following his poor performance against Manchester City over the weekend.

The Gabonese marksman was largely uninfluential during his side’s 1-0 Premier League defeat at the Emirates, failing to register even a single shot on target.

“I don’t know I didn’t see those comments I heard about them,” Arteta told reporters, via Mirror.

“I’m here to support every single player in the squad in the squad and all the time give them the best possible advice. Play them in their qualities and when they have difficult stay right behind them. That’s what we’ve tried with Auba.”

“I think the best way to talk is always is on the pitch. At the end it’s about putting the ball in the back of the net for him and that’s how he gets judged.”

Aubameyang has been able to find the back of the net only eight times through 21 outings in the Premier League this season.
