During a public event for Bayern Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that he wants the fans to return as soon as possible.

We previously revealed that the Bundesliga decided to bring fans back to the stadiums this weekend but Bayern won’t be able to. The region of Bavaria currently surpasses the established limit of 35 infected people for every 100,000.

Club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is aware that while they are still above that number. The club won’t be able to welcome the fans back to Allianz Arena. He sent all the supporters an encouraging message to all fans ahead of the Bundesliga kickoff.

At the moment, the most important club in Germany won’t be able to play in front of any crowd. It will remain behind closed doors until further notice.

Rummenigge still remains hopeful.

During a public event where he addressed this problem, he said via Bayern’s official website: “I am sad that it isn’t possible to hold the opening Bundesliga match on Friday in front of spectators after all. Following the agreement reached on Wednesday evening, we were very much looking forward to it.

“FC Bayern had prepared very conscientiously for the return of spectators with a top concept and in compliance with all health and hygiene regulations.

“We all want to see the atmosphere and emotions in the stadium again, so, of course, it remains our wish and goal to play in front of our fans again as soon as possible. They are a very important part of football culture.”

The Bavarian giants are set to play the Bundesliga opener on Friday against Schalke 04.
