Leao has attracted interest from several clubs after his impressive season at San Siro.

Rafael Leao admits transfer links with Real Madrid make him happy, but he is eager to continue his development at Milan.

Leao registered 11 goals and nine assists at Milan last season, helping them clinch the Serie A title for the first time in over a decade. The 22-year-old’s performances have drawn the attention of elite European clubs, with Real Madrid being among his admirers.

Speaking to A Bola, the Portuguese star reacted to recent reports about his potential move to Santiago Bernabeu.

“I am at Milan. I have another two years left on my contract and I feel at home there, I am happy to hear Milan say I am untouchable,” Leao explained to A Bola when asked about the Madrid reports.

“The rumours about Real Madrid interest make me happy, but I am keeping my feet firmly on the ground. I am proud to work with such experienced players.”

Since his move from Lille in August 2019, Leao has established a reputation as one of the most promising young forwards in Serie A.

Asked about his impressive development, the former Lille star added: “I left Sporting very young in 2018 and went to Lille. People might not realise it, but Ligue 1 is a strong league too and I evolved from there.

“The first two years didn’t go the way I wanted at Milan, but now I am more mature and feel more confident in myself. I want to be a reference point for my club and national side. I hope to do great things in future.”

In addition to Real Madrid, Arsenal are reportedly keen to add Leao to their squad. However, Milan have insisted interested clubs can only sign ‘untouchable’ Leao by paying his £127million release clause.
