The Spanish forward has completed his highly anticipated switch to Camp Nou.

Barcelona have confirmed the €55 million signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

The Spain international passed a medical on Monday before putting pen-to-paper on a five-year contract until 2027, which includes a €1 billion buyout clause. The transfer becomes official on Saturday, January 1.

Barcelona plan to present their new signing to the fans at Camp Nou on Monday, January 3.

Manchester City pay tribute

Torres supplied 16 goals and four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions at Manchester City after joining Pep Guardiola’s side from Valencia in August 2020 for €28 million.

The 21-year-old won the Premier League and EFL Cup in his 16 months at the Etihad.

“Ferran should be proud of what he has achieved here at Manchester City,” read a statement from the club’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain.

“Last season was his first time in a new country, but he adapted well. He always gave 100%, worked hard for the team, and scored goals which helped us win trophies.

“Injury unfortunately prevented him from playing more games this season, but Ferran is a player we have all enjoyed working with and we wish him all the best at Barcelona and for the rest of his career.”

Barcelona return to action this Sunday away to RCD Mallorca in La Liga for their first match of 2022.
